Amid China’s prevailing fine-dining urbanization, the rising chef talent Jay Zhao – trained under Chef André Chiang – settled his restaurant SENSE in An He Yin Shi Resort, an about 40-minute drive from downtown Hangzhou. With lakeside scenery as a part of the backdrop, it tells a philosophy where luxury is redefined as symbiosis with nature. Rooted in creative cuisine, the restaurant unfolds global techniques into locally inspired narratives.
Debuting in early 2024, SENSE has ascended to culinary acclaim, securing a star in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Hangzhou, and a triumph paralleled by its sommelier Hao Wang ’s recipient of the Sommelier Award.
